Soul Brother No. 1. The Godfather of Soul. The Hardest Working Man in Show Business. Mr. Dynamite! These are just some of the names by which James Brown was known during a career that spanned more than 50 years. Live Wire pays homage to this Apollo Hall of Fame inductee with a screening of the acclaimed documentary, Mr. Dynamite: the Rise of James Brown, directed by the Oscar® and Emmy® winner Alex Gibney. The film covers the peak of Brown’s career with rare video clips, never-before-seen photographs from his estate, and fresh interviews with some of his closest personal and musical associates. The result is new insight into a man whose life and career made an indelible and everlasting impact on entertainment and culture. Harry Weinger, a special consultant to the film and a two-time Grammy® winner, will lead a panel discussion following the screening with the film’s director Alex Gibney, supervising editor Geeta Gandbhir, ethnomusicologist Michael Veal, and Hip-Hop Activist & Media Assassin Harry Allen.
